Gulp! Virtual Book Tour: Work Matters Radio

We're off now to Web Talk Radio for an interview with Nan Russell whose amazing personal story goes from being a minimum wage employee to the Vice President of a $4.4 billion dollar company.  She is the host of "Work Matters with Nan Russell" and she also writes a regular column called Winning at Work.  Nan is a fantastic interviewer and really asked questions that drilled down to the heart and soul of what Gulp! is all about.  In fact it was such a thought provoking interview that as soon as I put the phone down I was scribbling "notes to self" for about an hour - and I was the one being interviewed!

Listen to the interview here

Hello from the Big Apple...

GulpinnewyorkI was walking down the aisle at Borders in the Time Warner Center in New York City, and look what I stumbled upon.  Philip, my commissioning editor at Bantam, always said that the bright purple cover for Gulp! would really "pop" on the bookshelf.  And he was right.

Many authors will tell you that writing a book can be like giving birth.  All I can say is that I felt like a proud "mom" seeing Gulp! on this book stand, especially when you consider that only two and a half years ago Gulp! was simply "an idea."  As St Francis of Assis famously said, "Start by doing what's necessary and then what's possible, and very soon you're doing the impossible."  And he was right.

A big hug to everyone who has supported me and Gulp! over the past few years.  You guys rock! (said with an American twang)

Plus, more coming soon from the Gulp! virtual book tour in the US...

Gulp! Virtual Book Tour: Karen Reddick's Blog

Well it's off to the snowy town of Colorado for the next stop on the Gulp! Virtual Book Tour as we visit Karen Reddick's blog.  Karen is my wonderful Virtual Assistant (VA) and Editor who makes sure I keep on the straight and narrow.  Not only does she proof read and edit all my copy to make sure it's grammatically correct (what a relief to hand that job over to someone else!), she also turns it into American English as well.  Watch out for Karen's own Grammar book due out in March - essential reading for anyone for whom grammer lessons are little more than a faint and distant memory!

Here I share how the Gulp! principles can be used by VA's who want to step outside their comfort zone and take that leap of faith in 2008.  http://www.vandeservices.com/blog/

Gulp! Virtual Book Tour: Home Based Working Moms

We're off over to Lesley Spence Pyle's blog of the Home Based Working Moms, an online community of parents who work at home and those who would like to.  Lesley is a super inspiring woman who set up HBWM in 1995 because as a mom she wanted to spend more time with her two beautiful children and play a bigger role in seeing them grow up.  Her passion is for other parents to reach the same goal.

So I wrote Lesley some Top Tips especially aimed at home based working moms and the challenges they face.

Gulp! Virtual Book Tour: Audible Podcast

Audible is the world's largest audio book portal and the digital provider of downloadable audio books to iTunes and Amazon.com.  If you haven't tried listening to an audio book then I highly recommend them.  I'm hooked!  They're great for long train/plane journeys, working out at the gym and even sitting on the beach.  Plus you get the benefit of hearing the words straight from the author's mouth.  My clients say that it's like having me whispering in their ear!
To mark the launch of the Gulp! audio book, Audible invited me to be one of their "self-help gurus" and share my top tips about New Year's Resolutions.  Listen to this podcast to find out why you should ditch them altogether!
You can see my audio book range at:

Gulp! Virtual Book Tour: The Sassy Ladies

Don't you just love the name of this web portal!  The Sassy Ladies are a network of women entrepreneurs who like to mix success with fun.  I had a great conversation with Wendy Hanson, one of the co-founders, about Gulp! and wake up calls.  Talk about a real Ms Dynamite.

Gulp! Virtual Book Tour: Bantam Podcast

My personal development book "Gulp! : The 7 Day Crash Course to Master Fear and Break Through Any Challenge" hit the book shelves in the US this week.  It's amazing to think that none of this might have happened if it wasn't for my breast cancer scare.  It just goes to show what a wake up call can do.

Bantam Dell (part of the Random House publishing group) were the brave souls who took the leap of faith and decided to publish Gulp!.  So it's apt that we kick off the Gulp! Virtual Book Tour with a podcast on the Bantam Dell website with me talking about one of my Gulp! Moments in 2007 - swimming with dolphins down in New Zealand.

Check it out here:  http://www.randomhouse.com/bantamdell/podcast/  It's Episode 46.
